Richard A. Garzoni, 87

Richard A. Garzoni, 87, Punxsutawney, died Saturday, September 29, 2012, at Punxsutawney Area Hospital.

He was born on November 30, 1924, in Eleanora, PA, a son of the late Victor and Elva (Soliday) Garzoni.

On November 22, 1946, he married Theresa V. Maruca, who survives.

He was owner and operator of Garzoni and Son Coal Company and Gazoni Excavating for many years and retired from Brocsious Trucking.

He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Anita, PA.

In addition to his wife, surviving relatives include a daughter Vickie Urchuck and husband Ron of Falls Creek, a son Richard “Dick” Garzoni and wife Mona of Anita; two sisters, Beatrice Brown and husband Michael of Florida, and Barbara Muth of Woodland; a brother James Garzoni and wife Peggy of North Caroline; two grandchildren, Shawn Garzoni and Emily Urchuck; and one great-grandchild Skyler Garzoni.
He was preceded in death by his parents.

As per the request of the family, visitation will be private.

A funeral mass will be held at 11am, Tuesday, October 2, 2012, at St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church with Monsignor Joseph Riccardo officiating.

Interment will be in Adrian-Anita Roman Catholic Cemetery.

Memorial contributions, in Mr. Garzoni’s memory, may be made to the Dubois Area Catholic School or to the S.S.C.D. School.
